Nurse Carlin

Hi, I’m Nurse Carlin, and this is my blog. Yup, a blog. The 90’s are back apparently–can’t you tell by the latest Gen Z fashion? Though, like any Millennial, I’ll still rock the skinny leg scrubs and drink from my Hydroflask at the nurse’s station.

I’ve been an RN for 12 years, and I’m still as passionate about nursing as I was in the beginning. You’ll see that passion reflected throughout this blog. Despite the many faults in the US healthcare system, the backlash towards nurses and healthcare workers during the COVID pandemic, and the toxic culture of nurses eating their young, I still wouldn’t trade this career for anything. Well, maybe except winning the lottery.

I currently work as a full time staff nurse at a multi-speciality surgery center in Preop and PACU. But I’ve worn many hats as a professional nurse. Some of my favorite nursing moments include training an AI clinical platform to help nurses triage patients during emergencies; founding my own company using smart tech and caregiving services to help seniors age in place at home; and my first job, working at a top hospital in NYC on a Med/Surg unit.

I’m also passionate about self-care, continuous self development and reaching my full potential as a nurse and a human being. I’ve read more self-development books than I care to admit (thanks to anxiety, ADD, and my inability to sit still).

Beyond the professional world, I’m a gay, proud husband and devoted father of three kiddos trying to live my best (but exhausted) life in sunny California. When I’m not working full-time, you can find me at the beach, on a playground, or enjoying a fish burrito. Once a former couch potato, I’m now an avid Peloton devotee and enthusiast. I love graphic design, content creation, and web development too (duh).

My professional practice and this blog are both guided by transparency, honesty and integrity.
